Weekly Chronicle aims to publish accurate information and address factual errors responsibly. Readers can use the process below to raise concerns about our coverage.
Requesting a Correction
Please send correction requests to:
MasonReidVarlow@weeklychronicle.com
Include:
- The article’s title or web address.
- The information you believe is incorrect.
- An explanation of the error.
- Supporting documents or reliable sources, where available.
You may also submit a request through our Contact Us page.
Reviewing Requests
Correction requests are considered on their merits. The review may involve checking the original sources, examining supporting evidence and requesting further information.
A disagreement with an opinion does not, by itself, establish a factual error. However, factual statements within opinion articles are subject to correction.
How Corrections Are Made
Where a factual error is established, our policy is to amend the affected information.
Significant corrections should include a visible note explaining what was corrected and when. Minor spelling, punctuation or formatting changes that do not alter the meaning may be made without a correction note.
If an error appears in a headline, caption or other part of an article, the correction should address that part as well.
Updates and Clarifications
An update adds information that became available after publication. A clarification makes existing wording easier to understand. A correction fixes inaccurate information.
Significant changes should be described clearly so readers understand why the article was amended.
Removal of Content
Removal requests are considered individually. Where a correction can adequately resolve an issue, amending the article is generally preferable to removing it.
Content may be removed where there is a substantial reason, including a serious accuracy, privacy or rights concern. Where appropriate, an explanation should be provided.
Responsibility
Mason Reid Varlow, Editor-in-Chief, is responsible for overseeing correction requests and decisions.
